South Haryana Electricity Distribution Corporation has recovered Rs 10 crore by starting a surcharge waiver scheme for defaulter electricity consumers. The Electricity Corporation has announced a big relief for consumers who have not deposited the bill for any reason.
Electricity Bill Interest Waiver Scheme 2025 is in force. Consumers can avail the benefits till November 11. Managing Director of the Electricity Distribution Corporation Ashok Garg has given clear instructions to all the officers to make this scheme reach the consumers. The Electricity Corporation management wants the defaulting consumers to deposit the principal amount.
Under the scheme, consumers who were defaulters till 31 August 2024 and whose electricity bills are still pending till 9 May 2025 are eligible to avail the benefits. This includes rural-urban domestic consumers, agricultural category, industrial, government, municipal corporation, gram panchayat, state government and other public utility consumers.
Domestic consumers will get 10 percent discount on principal amount and full interest waiver on lump sum payment. Agricultural consumers can pay the outstanding amount in three billing cycles. Industrial consumers will get 50 percent surcharge waiver on lump sum payment.
Interest waiver will be given on lump sum payment to government and other institutions. Apart from this, consumers with wrong billing can avail the scheme by getting their bills corrected. Consumers whose cases are pending in the court can also avail the scheme by withdrawing the case. In case of missed installment or non-payment on time, the consumer will be out of the scheme and interest will be recovered again. The disconnected connections will also be reconnected on the prescribed conditions.
This scheme is a golden opportunity for consumers to get relief. All defaulting consumers should take advantage of this in time. Consumers should find it easy to pay the bill amount. For this, many options have been provided in the scheme.
