Before Corona, about 15,000 e-scooters were being sold in the country every month, which was reduced during the Corona period. But now it is slowly gaining momentum. As on date, sales of about 35,000 electric two-wheelers have been reached every month.

Discussions about electric vehicles have been going on for many years. But when it comes to charging and fitness, many questions arise. However, this concern is less visible with regard to electric scooters, e-rickshaws or small electric vehicles. In recent years, the number of such small vehicles has increased rapidly as they do not have much trouble in charging and maintenance. The report shows that the demand for two-wheeler or three-wheeler electric vehicles is increasing in the markets. People are liking these vehicles very much and companies are trying to capitalize on these opportunities.

The indication of this became stronger when Ola announced the launch of electric scooter in the market. Lakhs of scooters were booked in a jiffy. Ola is going to launch two variants of two e-scooters in the market, which include S1 and S1 Pro. In this, the first model is 1 lakh and the second one is 1.30 lakh rupees. The price of Ola’s basic scooter has been kept at Rs 1 lakh. The deliveries of these scooters will start from September. Now the question is, has Ola set a trend in front of companies and people that the coming time is of electric scooters and bikes?

e-bikes cost more

Experts have different opinions on this. Some believe that the coming time is of course for electric bikes and scooters but its prices will matter. For example, Ola has fixed the price of the basic model at Rs 1 lakh. If we look at the market of India, then most of the people who use the bike have a choice of 40-50 thousand bikes. For them, the cost of Ola scooter will have to be paid up to double. The second thing is about the charging infrastructure. Right now this field is progressing slowly in the country. The same thing is being seen in the context of electric cars. There is a problem of charging and the cost of fitness or maintenance is high. Companies have to look at these expenses from the point of view of the customers. If we look at the price, then the electric bike is much more expensive than the petrol variants right now.

Already increasing demand

Joy e-bikes are in vogue in the market before Ola. This company is getting very good response now than before. Facilities like subsidy are also being given by the government to increase the prevalence of e-bikes. Earlier this company used to make 900-1000 scooter e-bikes in a month which has now increased to around 2500-3000. This company has 400 distributors across the country, from whose side the demand is increasing continuously. Joy can charge the e-bikes even at home, so there is no problem in maintenance.

40 models of e-bikes in the market

Before Corona, about 15,000 e-scooters were being sold in the country every month, which was reduced during the Corona period. But now it is slowly gaining momentum. As on date, sales of about 35,000 electric two-wheelers have been reached every month. Earlier there were some 30 models of e-bikes in the country which has increased to 40 today. Increasing the model means that new companies are entering the market. This also shows that the demand is reaching the companies, so new models are being launched for the customers. This is a good sign for the e-bikes to come.

Governments are giving subsidy

Earlier the companies making e-bikes were less but now it is increasing. Now big companies are also entering this field. The Government of India has decided to give a subsidy of Rs 15,000 on two wheeler e-bikes. Both companies and customers are getting the benefit of this scheme running under FAME-2. This is creating a huge environment for e-bikes in the country. States like Delhi, Gujarat and Maharashtra are giving subsidy ranging from Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000.

Experts believe that right now the prices of e-bikes are getting higher because there is less competition among the companies in the market. As the customers buy these scooters, the competition between the companies will increase and the prices will keep on falling. Anyway, the cost of the scooter will have to be charged more than once, but after the operation cost is some paise, then the purchase price will be equal.
