Driving License Online Renewal Process: It is very important for people living in India to have certain documents. You need these documents every day. Among these, a driving license is a crucial document.

A driving license is a necessary document for every driver. Driving without one is not only illegal, but if you are caught driving without one, you could face a hefty fine.

Licenses come with a validity period, but sometimes people continue driving even after their licenses expire, which is illegal. The government has now made it extremely easy to renew licenses online. This means you no longer have to stand in long queues. You can re-validate your expired license in just a few minutes from home. Let us explain the process and the documents required.

Online process to renew driving license

If you want to renew your driving license online, first visit the Ministry of Transport’s website, parivahan.gov.in . Select your state in the Driving License Related Services section. Then click on the “Apply for DL Renewal” option. Enter the requested information, such as your license number, date of birth, and other details. Then, upload the required documents.

These include a copy of your old license, a medical certificate if you’re over 40, and a passport-size photo. After completing all the correct information, pay the fees online and submit. Upon submission, an application number will be generated, allowing you to track your status. In many states, a new license is sent directly to your home after verification.

Documents required for renewal

To renew, you’ll need certain documents, including your old driving license, Aadhaar card or other identification card, address proof, medical certificate (Form 1A), and a recent photograph. If your license expired more than five years ago, you may need to retake the test. Generally, there’s no penalty for renewing within the 30-day grace period. However, any delay after that time incurs an additional fee. Therefore, renew your license before it expires.
