Documents related to Mallya missing from Supreme Court, hearing postponed till 20 August

Vijay Mallya Hearing in SC Today: A hearing in the Supreme Court could not be held today against Vijay Mallya in the contempt case. The top court deferred its trial till August 20 due to missing documents.

fugitive liquor Korabori Vijay Mallya could not hear the Supreme Court today. In fact, the apex court had to postpone the hearing as the documents related to Mallya’s case disappeared from the file. Please tell that Mallya is currently living in London.



Hearing on Vijay Mallya’s reconsideration petition in the contempt case of the Supreme Court has been postponed to August 20 due to violation of Supreme Court order. Three years ago, Mallya filed a review petition which is now listed for hearing.

Mallya was convicted of contempt of the Supreme Court in 2017, Mallya transferred his property to his family by going against the order of the Supreme Court. In the previous hearing, the court had sought clarification from its own registry as to why Mallya’s appeal against the May 2017 order has not been listed before the court. The court had also asked the registry the names of the officers who deal with the file. Mallya ran away with 9 thousand crores



Mallya had secretly escaped from India on 2 March 2016. He was arrested on 18 April 2017 by Scotland Yard, the UK police. However, a London court released him on bail within a few hours. The government is trying to extradite Mallya to India. Mallya owes Rs 9 thousand crore to 17 banks in India.
