Delhi Senior Citizens to Receive Higher Old Age Pension: Check Eligibility, Application Dates, and Amount

Delhi Senior Citizen Pension Scheme: A major update has arrived regarding the new pension scheme for Delhi’s senior citizens. If you’ve been waiting to apply, your wait may be longer.

Those trying to apply will have to wait a few more days, as the government is currently making technical improvements to the portal. It’s expected that the online process will resume next week.

When was this scheme announced?

On the 17th of last month, PM Modi announced several schemes and projects in Delhi. Among those schemes was one for the elderly in Delhi. Under this scheme, 50,000 elderly people will receive a new pension.

How much old age pension is available in Delhi?

Age Earlier, pension was available (per month) Now you will get this much pension (per month) Additional benefits
60-69 years 2000 rupees 2500 rupees Rs 500 (only for SC/ST/minority category)
70 or more 2500 rupees 3000 rupees Rs 500 (only for SC/ST/minority category)

 

Unable to apply

Following PM Modi’s announcement, many elderly people tried to apply for this scheme. However, they are currently unable to do so. According to sources, the government is making some technical changes to the website before resuming the application process. Once these are complete, people will be able to apply for pension online by visiting the e-district portal.

How many elderly people will get pension?

When announcing the scheme, PM Modi clearly stated that only 50,000 applications would be accepted. These applications would be distributed across Delhi’s 70 assembly constituencies, providing approximately 650 to 700 applicants per constituency.
