Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Big News! Journey will be completed in 12 hours instead of 24 hours, know details

On 9 March 2019, the foundation stone of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway was laid by Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj. Work is going on on a war footing on this 8-lane expressway. Out of 1380 kms, work is going on 1200 kms, while 375 kms of road has been completed.


New Delhi: Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: After the formation of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway , the 24-hour journey between Delhi and Mumbai will be completed in 12 hours. The work of completing this longest expressway of the country is going on in full swing. The target is to complete this expressway by March 2023. Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari took stock of this.

Expressway will be ready before deadline: Gadkari
Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, who came to take stock of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, also told a funny anecdote during this time. He told that after marriage, when the road was being built in Maharashtra, the in-laws’ house lying on the way had to be demolished. He claimed about the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway that this expressway would be ready for the travel of the people even before the scheduled timeline of March 2023.

375 km expressway ready
Let us tell you that on 9 March 2019, the foundation stone of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway was laid by Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj. Work is going on on a war footing on this 8-lane expressway. Out of 1380 kms, work is going on 1200 kms, while 375 kms of road has been completed. A total cost of Rs 98 thousand crore is estimated to make this expressway. After its completion, the distance of Delhi-Mumbai will be reduced.

Expressway will pass through 6 states
This expressway will pass through six states of the country, which include Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Due to this expressway, it will be easy to reach cities like Jaipur, Kishangarh, Ajmer, Kota, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore, Ahmedabad and Surat.

took special care of the environment

According to an estimate, due to the construction of this expressway, the distance from Delhi to Mumbai will be reduced by 130 km. This will save 320 million liters of fuel and reduce emissions of 850 million kg of carbon dioxide (CO2). 20 lakh trees will be planted along the expressway, which will benefit the environment. This will help in improving the air quality further. Keeping in mind the wild areas and wildlife, 3 animals and 5 overpasses are being built i.e. movement of wild animals can be done from below and above this expressway.

Journey will be completed in 12 hours instead of 24
This project is one of the ambitious project of the country. 1.2 million tonnes of steel will be used in its construction. The duration of the journey will be reduced from 24 hours to 12 hours. This expressway will reduce the pressure on other highways. The pollution caused by vehicles in Delhi will also be reduced. Buses and trucks will run on this expressway at a speed of 120 km per hour.


Features of the Expressway
Toll collection on the expressway will be done through radio frequency identification technology. In this, 2 corridors are being made separately. NHAI says that 8 lanes are being prepared now, 12 lanes can be made if needed. Its construction work will generate employment of 50 lakh days.
