Although the Delhi government has already announced the holiday for its subordinate schools so that there is no overcrowding on the road. In such a situation, Delhi Police is preparing some plans regarding the movement of Delhi Metro by making coordination with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
Like the Delhi Police, a plan is being made on the changes to be made regarding the entry-exit of people at some selected metro stations, on which a decision can be taken soon. It is discussed that all this is being done in view of the strict security arrangements for foreign guests. As of now, no decision has been taken by DMRC regarding which stations should be closed for how long or not, nor has DMRC received any instructions from Delhi Police in this regard. However, the discussion is about stopping the passage of VVIP convoy for some time regarding selected stations.
According to the information, during the G20 conference on behalf of the Delhi Police, the discussion of urging the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to close some selected metro stations for some time from 8 to 10 September is coming to the fore. This will happen only during VVIP movement. In these stations, Delhi Airport Station, Pragati Maidan, Rajiv Chowk, Sardar Patel Marg, Khan Market Station etc. are prominently mentioned. When News18 tried to know the reality from the metro officials on the ongoing news and discussion regarding this, they said that no such proposal or instruction has been received from the Delhi Police or other security agencies etc. If any such instructions are found, they will be followed completely.
Officials told that if any guidelines come even today regarding the closure or opening of entry-exit gates etc. of Delhi Metro, they are acted upon immediately. It doesn’t take much time. In this regard, information is also sent officially on DMRC’s social media Twitter account. If something like this happens in future also, the passenger can be informed about it immediately from there. But till now no instructions have been received from the Delhi Police regarding when and for how long a station has to be closed or not.
On the other hand, the Delhi Traffic Police has imposed various restrictions in the New Delhi area. Under this, many types of restrictions including traffic will start from the night of 7th September. Overall, a mini lockdown-like situation will prevail in the New Delhi area on 8, 9 and 10 September. At the same time, it is said that the Delhi Police is preparing to write a letter to the Delhi Metro regarding the closure of selected metro stations.
Apart from this, it has been advised to use the metro to go to the railway station and Delhi airport. Along with this, the Delhi Police has also appealed to the people to minimize the use of private vehicles, due to which they may face more problems, because there will be route diversion at many places and there will be a complete ban at some places. The police have also requested additional para military force for the metro unit. Metro services will not be disrupted, but commuters will not be able to enter or exit the affected stations for some time.
On the other hand, during the G-20 conference, a decision has also been taken to cancel 80 flights between 8 and 10 September. During this, the possibility of affecting a large number of flights is also being expressed.
