Delhi Metro Rule Changed: Now updated system has to be followed for traveling in Delhi Metro. Let us tell you what changes are going to happen related to the journey.

Delhi Metro Rule Changed: Lakhs of people travel daily in Delhi Metro. This is the reason why it is also called the lifeline of Delhi. Necessary changes have been made from time to time to update the Delhi Metro. Looking at the facilities of the passengers, many changes have been made since the beginning of the metro. Now Delhi Metro has decided to remove the hassle of standing for long in the token line for the passengers. For this, Delhi Metro has started a new ticketing system. Let us tell you everything about it

Delhi Metro has implemented a new system of QR code based paper ticketing along with token for passengers on all lines. QR code based paper tickets can be purchased from the token line only. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced this new arrangement on Monday.

After the introduction of QR code based paper ticket, DMRC will gradually phase out the token based system. For now, passengers will be able to buy QR code based paper tickets along with tokens from the ticket counters set up at the station.

Now let us tell you about the important rules related to QR code based paper tickets. A ticket with a QR code cannot be used to get down at any station in the middle of the journey before the destination. If the passenger has to get down at any station in between, then he will have to take a free exit ticket from the customer care counter.

The official said that the DMRC has upgraded AFC (automatic fare collection) gates and token or customer service counters to make them compliant. DMRC said that initially, two AFC gates have been upgraded at all stations for QR-based paper ticketing, one for entry and one for exit.

DMRC said in a statement that the passenger will be able to enter through the QR ticket (non-refundable) from the same station from where it is issued and not from any other station. He said that after this ticket is issued, the passenger will have to enter the metro station within 60 minutes and if he is unable to enter the station within that time, then this ticket will become invalid.

On the other hand, if the passenger wants to deboard ahead of his scheduled station, the AFC gates will not open and the passenger will be asked to pay the difference in fare. Officials said that mobile photo or copy of QR based paper ticket will not be valid and passengers having mobile photo or copy of ticket will be treated as ‘ticketless’ and will be dealt with as per rules.

According to Metro’s statement, with the implementation of these more transparent, unmanned and cashless systems, the practice of issuing tokens will be phased out gradually. Officials said that the metro also aims to introduce mobile-based QR ticketing by the end of May. Mobile based QR ticketing system is currently available on the Airport Express line. DMRC plans to make all AFC gates QR code compliant by the end of June and also aims to upgrade ticket vending machines to dispense QR-based paper tickets.
