There is good news for the passengers traveling by Delhi Metro. Passengers will no longer have to worry about tickets. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started the facility to buy tickets through WhatsApp on all lines. This will save passengers from long queues for tickets. Earlier this facility was available only on the Airport Express Line. Given its success, DMRC has now expanded this state-of-the-art service to cover all lines of the National Capital Region (NCR), including the Gurugram Rapid Metro.
To avail this service, passengers will have to add DMRC’s WhatsApp number 9650855800 in the contact list of their smartphones. In this, after giving the name of the origin and destination stations, a QR code will be given, which can be shown at the AFC gate to enter or exit from the destination station. This will especially benefit those people who travel by metro daily. With this, they can book tickets while sitting at home.
DMRC Managing Director Dr Vikas Kumar said that providing metro passengers with the option to buy tickets through a simple chat will significantly enhance their travel experience. WhatsApp is the preferred messaging platform for most people and buying a metro ticket will now be as easy as messaging a friend or family member.
You will be able to easily buy QR tickets –
- DMRC’s official WhatsApp number 9650855800 will have to be added to the contact list of the smart phone.
- Chatbots displayed at customer service or ticket counters of all stations will be able to directly scan the QR code.
- After opening WhatsApp, write Hi and send it to DMRC number.
- You can buy tickets by choosing your preferred language. You can choose to get the last journey ticket or get the ticket again.

Maximum of 6 QR tickets can be purchased for single journey or group tickets.
Tickets cannot be booked before the metro service starts or after it ends at night.
A nominal convenience fee will be charged on transactions made through credit or debit cards.
