Delhi-Meerut RRTS Trains: Delhi is no longer far, but for the passengers traveling from Meerut to Delhi, Delhi used to be far away. But for the passengers coming from Delhi to Meerut, it will be a thing of the past.

It used to take up to 3 hours to travel a distance of 80 km from Delhi to Meerut. But in the coming time, now this journey can be covered in just 55 minutes. And this will be possible thanks to India’s first regional railway.

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has released the first look of the high-speed RRTS train that will cover a distance of 82 km between Delhi and Meerut within an hour. The trial run on the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is expected to begin this year.

Trains with a design speed of 180 kmph will be available every 5-10 minutes and will cover the distance between Delhi and Meerut in 55 minutes with 14 stoppages. Work on the entire 82 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is in full swing. It will have 25 stations, including two depots at Duhai and Modipuram and a stabilizing yard at Jangpura.

This coach will have 2*2 transverse seating like an airplane, apart from this the entire train will have high speed WiFi connectivity. There will be facilities like comfortable standing space, luggage rack for storing luggage, mobile laptop charging facility.

This year, the NCRCTC will also start trial runs on the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor from Duhai to Sahibabad in the month of May. Rapid rail operation will also start by March 2023 on the priority section of 17 km from Duhai to Sahibabad. 8 lakh passengers are expected to come daily in this corridor.

Built to promote public transport among the general public and to connect the far flung areas of NCR in a short time, this regional rail will first have 6 coaches, which can be increased to 9 coaches later. Of these, one premium coach, four standard coaches and one coach will be reserved for women.

This regional train with a capacity of 405 passengers will also have special space for stretchers and wheelchairs for the differently-abled. Along with this, passengers who will not get a place to sit, they will also be allowed to travel standing. For this, sufficient space has been made to travel standing in the coach. About 1500 passengers can travel at a time through this regional rail. The average speed of this regional train will be 100 km per hour. In March 2023, this train will run between Duhai in Ghaziabad to Sahibabad for a total of 5 stations. Like Metro, Rapid Rail will also be available for passengers every 3 to 4 minutes.

Starting from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut, Rapid Rail will pass through a total of 25 stations. The distance between one station to another will be 5 to 10 km. After Duhai-Sahibabad, rapid rail will run on Muradnagar-Modinagar corridor. After this it will be connected to Delhi and by the year 2025 Meerut will also be connected to it. That is, in the next 3 years, the journey from Delhi to Meerut can be covered in less than an hour. Let us also tell you that 100% train sets for RRTS are being made in India under Make in India. These are being manufactured at the Bombardier factory in Savli, Gujarat.
