Travelling from Delhi to Ayodhya, Katra and Udaipur is now going to be easier, more convenient and cheaper than before.

Yes, the Delhi government is planning to introduce 50 AC buses to provide convenient and comfortable long distance travel to Ayodhya, Katra and Udaipur. A Delhi government official told PTI that AC bus services from Delhi to Ayodhya, Katra and Udaipur will start soon. The official said that the buses have been specially designed for medium to long distance travel.

Buses will go to Ayodhya via Lucknow

The official said that the first phase of this bus service could be launched in the coming months. He said that the service will initially start with a limited number of buses and then the number of buses will be gradually increased. Regarding the long routes of the new Volvo fleet, the official said, “Long routes pose challenges in terms of charging infrastructure, hence the plan for now is to operate within distances that can be easily managed.” The official said that the Delhi Transport Department is gearing up to transform long-distance travel with the introduction of 50 premium Volvo buses to major destinations like Ayodhya (656 km via Lucknow), Katra (684 km) and Udaipur (660 km).

Government bus fares will be much lower than private buses.

A Delhi government official said more locations are likely to be added in the future. “Commuter convenience and affordability are at the heart of this project,” a senior transport department official said. While the exact fare details haven’t been finalized yet, officials have assured that the fares will be significantly lower than those charged by private bus operators. The official added that existing inter-state electric buses are currently limited to routes of 245 to 250 kilometers due to charging constraints.
