What did the government say in Parliament?

Recently, during the Lok Sabha session, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary, in response to a question by MP Anand Bhadoria, said that this decision was taken to reduce the economic burden during the pandemic.

He also said that the fiscal deficit had reached 9.2% in the financial year 2020-21, whereas now it has come down to 4.4% in the budget estimate (2025-26). Despite this, the government has made it clear that the installments of DA / DR stopped at that time will not be given now.

What is the status of DA at present?

At present, the DA of central employees and pensioners is at 55%. For the next revision period July-December 2025, DA is expected to increase by another 3% to reach 58%. At the same time, it is likely that this new rate will be implemented around Diwali.
