At present the fitment factor for central employees is 2.57 per cent dearness allowance, 42 per cent employees are demanding that their fitment factor be increased to 3.68.

The same possibility is being expressed that in view of the upcoming elections, the fitment factor can be increased from 2.57 years to 3 percent or 3.68 percent under the Seventh Pay Commission. It is believed that in 2024, the fitment factor can be increased based on the recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission. Although elections are to be held in 2024. Hence the fitment factor can be implemented from 2026 onwards.
If sources are to be believed, the fitment factor will not increase in the year 2023, but it can be increased by reviewing it in 2024. However, no clarification has been given by the government on this yet. This will be discussed by the department. Also the recommendation can be sent to the Finance Ministry. At the same time, the discussion of setting up a new pay commission next year is getting intensified.

For employees, if the existing fitment factor of 2.57 is increased to three, then the basic salary will increase from ₹ 18000 to ₹ 21000. If it is increased to 3.68 as per the demand of the employees, then the salary will increase to ₹ 25760. On the other hand, if this happens, 68 lakh employees will get its benefit.
