DA Hike in March: It is expected that this time the government will increase DA by 4 percent. After this the DA of the employees will increase to 50 percent.

7th Pay Commission: If you yourself are a central government employee or there is a central employee in your family, then this news is useful for you. The government is expected to announce DA hike for central employees next month. The government changes the dearness allowance twice every year in January and July. But the DA increase for January is usually announced in March and DA for July is announced in October. So how much is your DA going to increase this time in March, let’s see the complete calculation-

Calculation is done with this formula

Dearness allowance for central government employees is calculated on the basis of the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI-IW). Labor Bureau, a branch of the Labor Ministry, publishes CPI-IW data every month. Fixed formula for calculation of dearness allowance of central employees and pensioners,

7th CPC DA% = [{12 month average of AICPI-IW (Base Year 2001=100) for the last 12 months – 261.42}/261.42×100].

Expected to be 50 percent DA

Keeping this formula in mind, you can calculate DA / DR of central government employees and pensioners. On the basis of this formula, salary is given as per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission. After calculating according to this formula, the average CPI-IW of the last 12 months has come to 392.83. According to the formula, DA is 50.26 percent of the basic salary. Therefore, it is expected that the government may increase DA to 50 percent ignoring the point value.

DA will be available with arrears

At present, DA and DA of central employees are available at the rate of 46 percent. That means, the DA of the employees is expected to increase by 4 percent next month. The last increase in DA announced by the Central Government was on October 18, 2023 and it came into effect from July 1, 2023. Now the increase in DA and DR made by the Central Government will be effective from January 1, 2024. Along with this, arrears will also be paid to the employees by the government.
