Crisis on Star Health: AHPI warns of stopping cashless treatment facility from September 22

AHPI, an organization of more than 15,000 hospitals across the country, has given a strict ultimatum to Star Health. If the policies are not improved, the cashless facility will be discontinued from September 22.

New Delhi. Clouds of crisis are looming over the country’s well-known insurance company Star Health. The Association of Healthcare Providers-India (AHPI), representing more than 15,000 hospitals, has warned that if the company does not improve its policies, then cashless service will be discontinued for its policyholders from September 22, 2025. This decision can affect millions of patients who depend on Star Health’s cashless facility during treatment.

Why did the controversy escalate?

AHPI has made serious allegations against Star Health. The organization says that despite rising healthcare costs, the company has not revised the tariff for many years. Hospitals are being pressured to work at old rates and arbitrary bills are being issued. Not only this, in the claim process, patients and doctors are asked such questions that weaken their clinical judgment.

AHPI’s big statement

AHPI’s Director General Dr. Girdhar Gyani said that due to Star Health’s unfair practices, it has become necessary to take this step. He clarified that our primary responsibility is to protect the interests of patients and healthcare providers. He says that Star Health’s policies are not only harming the safety of patients but also the financial condition of hospitals.

What will be the impact on patients?

If the cashless facility is stopped, then patients will have to first pay money from their pockets in the hospital and later file a claim for reimbursement. This situation can create problems especially for emergency patients, where a huge amount will have to be arranged for immediate treatment. However, AHPI has said that hospitals will provide full support to patients in the claim process.
