Corona knocked again! Wearing masks is necessary in this state, Central Government also issued advisory

In view of the increasing cases of Corona, the Karnataka government has made it mandatory for all the elderly aged 60 years and above and people suffering from other diseases to wear masks.


Corona Update: On detection of new variants of Covid, the Karnataka government has advised people to wear masks when going out. As per the guidelines, all elderly people aged 60 years and above, people suffering from co-morbidities (kidney, heart, liver diseases), pregnant women, lactating mothers have been advised to compulsorily wear face masks when going out. . Along with this, it has been advised to strictly avoid going to closed, less ventilated places and crowded places.

Union Health Ministry can also review

The Union Health Ministry on Monday issued an advisory to the states on the fresh surge in COVID-19 cases and detection of the first case of the new JN.1 sub-variant in some states/UTs of India. The government seems to be alert on the discovery of new variants of Corona. Regarding this, the Union Health Minister can hold a review meeting with the Health Ministers of the states on Wednesday.

Advice given for the new year

Due to the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in Karnataka’s neighboring states Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the Commissionerate of Health and Family Welfare Services in Karnataka on Tuesday issued an advisory with several guidelines amid year-end celebrations amid apprehensions. The advisory has been issued in the context of the expected increase in crowding, especially in closed spaces, during Christmas and New Year celebrations along with the introduction of the JN.1 sub-variant in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

It is mandatory for these people to wear masks

Hospitalized patients will be tested

Commissioner Randeep D has directed to conduct whole genome sequencing (WGS) for symptomatic individuals with international travel history. Clusters, critically ill, hospitalized patients, SARI cases and representative samples for long term hospitalization will also now undergo WGS. In view of the rising Covid cases in Kerala, it is necessary to follow some preventive and proactive measures in Karnataka. The advisor said, the recommendations of the Technical Advisory Committee (TRC) should be followed at the appropriate level.

All border districts will have to remain alert

“As per Government of India guidelines, there is no need to panic at present or increase surveillance across the border (Kerala, Tamil Nadu states) by immediately imposing restrictions. However, all border districts of the state bordering Kerala and Tamil Nadu will have to remain alert and ensure adequate testing and timely reporting of Covid cases. All SARI cases and at least one in 20 ILI cases will be tested for COVID 19 at all private and government centres, including medical colleges. The advisor said, “All districts will conduct drills at both public and private health facilities in the third and fourth week of December. The aim of the drill is to ensure operational preparedness of all health facilities to handle any possible surge in Covid cases.”
