UPI Rule Change: Big change in the rules of UPI transaction, new rules will be implemented from April 1, know more

Changes in UPI services: Under the new rules, they will now have to send balance information to customers after every successful transaction so that customers do not check it again and again.

The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has made changes in the services related to UPI and has also made strict provisions for banks and companies providing UPI services. Under the new rules, now they will have to send balance information to the customers after every successful transaction so that the customers do not check it again and again.

Under the new changes that will come into effect from August 1, a customer will now be able to check the balance a maximum of 50 times a day from any one app. That is, if a customer uses both Paytm and PhonePe, then he can check the balance 50 times on both separately. At the same time, during peak hours (10 am to 1 pm and 5 pm to 9:30 pm), requests like checking the balance will be limited or blocked.

With this, users will now be able to check which bank accounts are linked to their mobile number only 25 times a day from any UPI app. This too will happen only when the customer himself chooses the bank and this process can be repeated only with his consent.

Instructions for banks

On the other hand, every concerned bank will have to get the system audited by accredited auditors once a year. It will be mandatory to submit the first audit report by 31 August 2025. NPCI has clarified that out of these 10 facilities, only one (AutoPay Mandate) is financial, the rest nine are non-financial. Therefore, UPI transactions such as sending or receiving money will not be affected by these limits.

Decision due to service disruption

It is being said that this decision has been taken due to frequent disruptions in the UPI service. This will reduce the pressure on the UPI network and it will run smoothly.

There have been changes here too

1. Autopay Mandate: UPI Autopay mandates will be active only during non-peak hours. Peak hours will be considered from 10 am to 1 pm and 5 pm to 9:30 pm. Autopay mandates will be inactive during this period.

2. Delay in transaction status check: The first request to check the status of a transaction can be made only 90 seconds after the original transaction. Subsequent requests can be made at intervals of 45 to 60 seconds.

3. List of Accounts: Users will be able to get the list of accounts linked to their mobile number a maximum of 25 times per day per app.
