The Health Ministry has fixed the surgery rates for CGHS card holders. The rates of surgery range from Rs 200 to around Rs 45000. These rates are a bit higher in a hospital affiliated with the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), whereas in a non-NABH hospital, the cost of these tests is slightly less.


There are more than 45 lakh CGHS card holders in the Central Government, which includes both serving employees and pensioners. There is news of relief for such people. Now he will not have to spend much money for any kind of surgery. The special thing is that they will not need to inquire much about the rates of 59 types of surgeries. The Health Ministry has fixed the surgery rates for CGHS card holders. The rates of surgery range from Rs 200 to around Rs 45000. These rates are slightly higher in a hospital accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), whereas in a non-NABH hospital the cost of these tests is slightly less. New rates for surgery expenses have come into effect from February 1st.

If you go to any NABH approved hospital for wound dressing, it will cost you Rs 300. The cost of wound dressing in a non-NABH hospital will be Rs 255. If the general surgery of aspiration pleural effusion diagnostic is done in NABH hospital, then Rs 700 will have to be paid for it, whereas in non-NABH hospital this rate will be Rs 595. For aspiration pleural effusion therapeutic, it will cost Rs 700 in NABH and Rs 595 in non-NABH. For Abdominal/Peritoneal Aspiration-Diagnostic/Acetic Tapping/Paracentesis- Diagnostic, Rs 700 will have to be paid in NABH and Rs 595 in non-NABH. For Abdominal/Peritoneal Aspiration-Therapeutic/Acetic Tapping/Paracentesis-Therapeutic, Rs 750 will have to be paid in NABH and Rs 640 in non-NABH. Removal of stitches (7-12 stitches) will cost Rs 200 in NABH, while Rs 170 in non-NABH.

For vein section, it will cost Rs 700 in NABH, whereas in non-NABH it will cost Rs 595. Phimosis correction/paraphimosis reduction/circumcision under LA, for this, Rs 6000 will have to be paid in a NABH approved hospital. In non-NABH this rate will be Rs 5100. For injection/sclerotherapy/bandaging of piles, it will cost Rs 700 in NABH approved hospital and Rs 595 in non-NABH hospital. Injection for varicose veins will cost Rs 700 in a NABH approved hospital and Rs 595 in a non-NABH hospital. For bladder catheterization, it will cost Rs 700 in an NABH approved hospital and Rs 595 in a non-NABH hospital. Expansion of urethral stricture, for its surgery Rs 2300 will have to be paid at NABH Hospital. In non-NABH hospital this rate will be Rs 1955. For incision and drainage (large) under local anesthesia, you will have to pay Rs 2300 in NABH hospital, whereas in non-NABH hospital this rate will be Rs 1955. If stitches are to be applied on small wounds, then it will cost Rs 1250 at NABH hospital. In non-NABH hospital this rate will be Rs 1060. Secondary suture of wounds will cost Rs 4000 in NABH hospital and Rs 3400 in non-NABH hospital.

For wound ointment, the rate will be Rs 1500 in NABH, while in non-NABH this rate will be Rs 1275. Removal of Foreign Body- For non-C-ARM, the rate will be Rs 1500 in NABH, while in non-NABH this rate will be Rs 1275. For excision of cervical lymph node under LA, Rs 3100 will have to be paid in NABH and Rs 2635 in non-NABH. For excision of axillary lymph node under GL anesthesia, you will have to pay Rs 7900 in a NABH approved hospital and Rs 6715 in a non-NABH hospital. For excision of inguinal lymph node under LA, you will have to pay Rs 3000 in NABH approved hospital and Rs 2550 in non-NABH hospital. Truecut needle biopsy (including needle) will cost Rs 3500 in NABH and Rs 2975 in non-NABH. For haemorrhoid resection, Rs 30000 will have to be paid in NABH and Rs 25500 will have to be paid in non-NABH.

Stapler Hemorrhoidectomy, for this you will have to pay Rs 43700 in NABH and Rs 37145 in non-NABH. Varicose Vein Surgery- Trendelenburg operation with stitches or ligation, it will cost Rs 23000 in NABH and Rs 19550 in non-NABH. For congenital diaphragmatic hernia, Rs 40000 will have to be paid in NABH, and Rs 34000 will have to be paid in non-NABH. Hiatus Hernia Repair – Stomach, it will cost Rs 33000 in NABH and Rs 28050 in non-NABH. For Hiatus Hernia Repair-Transthoracic, it will cost Rs 33000 in NABH and Rs 28050 in non-NABH.

Exploratory laparotomy (open), for this it will cost Rs 25000 in NABH, whereas in non-NABH it will cost Rs 21250. For repair of epigastric hernia, it will cost Rs 25000 in NABH and Rs 21250 in non-NABH. For inguinal hernia herniorrhaphy, it will cost Rs 26000 in NABH, whereas in non-NABH it will cost Rs 22100. For repair of femoral hernia, it will cost Rs 32000 in NABH and Rs 27200 in non-NABH.

For cholecystectomy, you will have to spend Rs 24000 in NABH and Rs 20400 in non-NABH. For Cholecystectomy and CBD search, it will cost Rs 33000 in NABH and Rs 28050 in non-NABH. Operation of hydatid cyst of liver will cost Rs 27000 in NABH and Rs 22950 in non-NABH. For hepatic resection (lobectomy/hepatectomy), it will cost Rs 33000 in NABH, whereas in non-NABH it will cost Rs 28050. Appendectomy, for this it will cost Rs 19000 in NABH and Rs 16150 in non-NABH.
