This government decision will directly benefit millions of central government employees and security forces personnel. This festive bonus is expected to bring great relief and joy to their families.

Ahead of the festive season, the central government has given its employees a significant gift. The Modi government has announced an ad-hoc bonus equivalent to 30 days’ salary for central government Group C and non-gazetted Group B employees as a productivity-linked bonus. The Finance Ministry issued an order on Monday stating that the bonus amount for 2024-25 has been fixed at ₹6,908.

Who will get the benefit?

  • This bonus will be given to all those employees who are in service till March 31, 2025 and who have worked for at least six consecutive months.
  • If someone has not worked for the entire year, he will be given bonus on pro-rata basis (i.e. according to the number of months worked).
  • Eligible employees of Central Paramilitary Forces and Armed Forces will also be covered under this bonus.
  • Employees of Union Territories (UTs) who work on the Central Government pay structure and are not eligible for any other bonus or ex-gratia will also get this benefit.
  • Ad-hoc employees, who have no break in service, will also be eligible.
  • Casual laborers who have worked a certain number of days over the past three years will also receive a bonus. Their bonus has been set at ₹1,184.

Other important things

  • Only those employees will be eligible who remain in service till March 31, 2025.
  • Of the employees who retired, resigned or died before this date, only those who had put in at least six months of service would be eligible.
  • Employees who are working in other organizations on deputation will be given bonus by their current organization.
  • The bonus amount will always be rounded up to the nearest rupee.

How will the bonus be calculated?

The bonus will be calculated based on a maximum monthly salary of ₹7,000. Example: ₹7,000 × 30 ÷ 30.4 = ₹6,907.89 (rounded up to ₹6,908). This government decision will directly benefit millions of central government employees and security forces personnel. This festive bonus is expected to bring great relief and joy to their families.
