Now a new crisis seems to be spreading in the world from China, for which the Ministry of Agriculture has warned all the state governments and people. Actually, mysterious packets filled with seeds are coming to the homes of people of many countries directly by post from China. The ministry says that this could be an attempt to damage the biodiversity of other countries.

However, no such packet has arrived in India yet, despite this the Ministry of Agriculture is ready to do so. The Ministry says that these mysterious packets can be a threat to the biodiversity of a country. In a warning issued last week, the Ministry of Agriculture has advised all institutions related to crops to be vigilant. Significantly, people of America, Canada, Britain, New Zealand, Japan and many European countries have received many such packets from China.

What did the Ministry of Agriculture say

In a letter sent to various government agencies, research institutes and companies, the ministry has said, ‘In the last few months thousands of mysterious packets full of seeds have been sent to many countries of the world. The US Ministry of Agriculture has described it as a ‘brushing scam’ and ‘smuggling’. There are reports that packets of these seeds, which are not available without being ordered, may contain deadly species of seeds or they may try to spread some pathogenic element or disease. They can pose a great threat to the country’s environment, agricultural ecology and national security.

Have to be cautious

Keshavulu, managing director of Telangana State Seed Development Corporation, said, ‘Many seed companies exchange seeds in many countries. But if such seeds (of doubtful type) come to India, they will spread rapidly and can destroy our ecology and bio-diversity. India is a big country, so we have to be especially vigilant.

Cleaning of china

On the other hand, the Chinese government is clearly denying any such incident. China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said in a press conference last month that sending seeds by post is prohibited in China. They say that the Chinese addresses given on these mysterious packets are fake.
