Jammu and Kashmir is currently grappling with the wrath of nature. Northern Railway has cancelled more than 10 passenger train services keeping in mind the safety of passengers due to heavy rainfall.

The General Manager of Northern Railway and the Divisional Railway Manager of Jammu, along with their technical team, are present in Pathankot and are continuously monitoring the situation.

Some services cancelled –

  • 22440 Katra-New Delhi Vande Bharat
  • 22462 Katra-New Delhi Shri Shakti Express
  • 22462 Katra-Delhi Sarai Rohilla AC Express
  • 14610 Katra-Rishikesh Hemkunt Express

Jammu and Kashmir is battling the wrath of nature these days. After Kishtwar and Kathua, now the cloudburst incident in Doda district has created an atmosphere of panic. At least 10 houses have been washed away due to sudden floods and many people have been affected. So far, three people have been confirmed dead while rescue operations are underway.

All bridges connecting Pathankot-Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir have been closed. Bus service is completely halted. Internet service has also been almost stopped due to the fall and washing away of several electric poles. Several godowns have been washed away due to heavy rains and floods. Hundreds of vehicles in the Mahindra Car godown were submerged in water. Jammu’s largest crematorium was washed away in the Tawi river.

Three Shiva temples located on the banks of the Tawi have also been submerged. Many houses in the Nikki Tawi area have been completely submerged. The situation has deteriorated so much that power supply has been cut off in many places.

Heavy rains have caused a landslide at tunnel number 16 near Katra-Sangar railway station, due to which train services have been suspended. Passengers have been advised to check the condition of trains before travelling. Along with this, the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra has also been stopped for the time being. Helicopter and e-car services have been stopped. The administration has appealed to people to stay in safe places and not go near rivers and drains.
