The Modi government has started this facility of cooking gas for the economically weaker section. Target of giving LPG connections to 5 crore women Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the government provides domestic cooking gas (LPG) connections to the families living below the poverty line. The government gives the help of Rs 1600.
Apart from this, financial assistance of Rs 1600 is also given to BPL families for an LPG connection. However, the beneficiaries have to buy the stove themselves. As per the scheme, 14.2 kg LGP cylinder is given to the beneficiaries. Its cost is around Rs 3200. On this Rs 1600 subsidy is available while OMCs get Rs 1600 as advance. scheme. To get free gas cylinder connection under the Ujjwala scheme, it is mandatory for the woman to be above 18 years of age. Also, they should have a bank account and BPL card.
