Why is Blue Aadhaar Card different?

The Aadhaar card issued to people above 5 years of age contains fingerprints i.e. biometrics. That Aadhar card is white in colour. Whereas, Blue Aadhar Card is issued for children below 5 years of age. Biometrics are not required in this. This Blue Aadhar Card is of blue colour.

How to apply for Blue Aadhaar

  • Visit the Aadhaar enrollment center with your child, do not forget to carry with you important documents like your Aadhaar card, your address proof and the birth certificate of the child.
  • Get the Aadhaar enrollment form from the center and fill it.
  • Provide your Aadhaar number details as your Aadhaar number will be linked with the child’s UID.
  • You will have to provide your phone number under which your child’s blue Aadhar card will be issued.
  • No biometric information is required, only a photo will be clicked by the Aadhaar Enrollment Center officials.
  • After photography the process of document verification starts.
  • After document verification, a message will come on your registered mobile number.
    Blue Aadhaar card will be issued in the name of your child within 60 days.
  • No charges are taken for Blue Aadhar Card.

You do not need to visit the office normally for your Voter ID card. You can make it even sitting at home.

This way you can apply sitting at home

  • Visit the official website of UIDAI, uidai.gov.in.
  • Click on Aadhar Card Registration link on the home page.
  • Fill all the details there.
  • After this, book the date by clicking on appointment.
  • Now on the fixed date, you will have to go to the center and submit the birth certificate of the child and the Aadhaar number of one of the parents.

For any problem, you can contact UIDAI on UIDAI helpline number 1947. You can talk on this number anytime from 7 am to 11 pm from Monday to Saturday. Whereas on Sunday we can talk from 8 am to 5 pm.
