DA arrears 18 months: There is a big news related to the money of central employees and pensioners. There has been a continuous demand regarding the arrears of Dearness Allowance. But, this hope has been dashed. Regarding the one-and-a-half year Arrear, the government has made it clear that there is no idea to give arrears (18 Months DA Arrear). The Central Government has said that for a period of one and a half years, it is not envisaged to make any outstanding payment. If sources are to be believed, there will be no DA Arrear Payment from January 2020 to June 30, 2021. Central employees have suffered a major setback due to this statement from the government. However, the union still believes that they are negotiating this with the government.

What is the government’s reasoning?
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also said in her statement last year that Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) were stopped in the year 2020 in view of the increasing problems of Coronavirus infection. . Due to Covid-19, this decision was taken because, it would put less pressure on the government financial resources. In the event of an epidemic, it was necessary to mobilize resources in different ways. Apart from central employees, the salary of MPs was also cut from 01.04.2020 to 31.03.2021.

MPs’ salary also cut
According to Nirmala Sitharaman, the salary of Union Ministers is at the same rate specified in Section 3 of the Salary, Allowance and Pension Act, 1954 of MPs. The salary of MPs was reduced by 30%. There was also a 30% cut in the salary of ministers. However, no deduction was made in the salary of central employees, nor was there a cut in DA. His salary and DA have been paid for the whole year. Only in view of the situation in the epidemic, the additional increase in dearness allowance was frozen from 01.01.2020 to 30,06.2021, which was removed from June 30 onwards. In such a situation no consideration has been given to the arrears of Freeze DA.

Dearness allowance increased but arrears not received
Let us tell you, the Central Government had restored Dearness Allowance / Dearness Relief for the employees from 1st July 2021 and it was also paid. In this, three installments have been paid. Central employees and pensioners were given 28% (17%+11%) dearness allowance/dearness relief from July 2021. After this 3% dearness allowance was increased in October 2021. At present, central employees are getting DA at the rate of 31%.

34402.32 crores saved
The government had saved Rs 34402.32 crore from the DA stopped due to the pandemic. During this three installments of Dearness Allowance were stopped. This includes 01.01.2020, 01.07.2020 and 01.01.2021.

Dearness allowance may be 34%
Dearness Allowance (DA) is currently getting 31 percent. Now there is a further increase of 3 percent in the salary of central employees. DA is set to increase in January 2022. It can be announced around Holi in March. It is clear from the recently released AICPI data that dearness allowance will increase by 3 percent in January 2021. Dearness allowance is currently at 31 per cent. But, adding 3 per cent more will bring it to 34 per cent.
