Ration Card Update: If you are also a ration card beneficiary and are taking advantage of the government’s free ration scheme, then there is good news for you. Let us tell you that after this rule of the government, Kotedar will not be able to give less ration under any circumstances. Actually, the government has implemented a new rule for the Kotdars.

On one hand, the government has extended the period of free ration till December for the benefit of the people. On the other hand, Modi government’s ambitious ‘One Nation One Ration Card Scheme’ has also been implemented in the entire country, after which online electronic Point of Sale (POS) devices have been made mandatory at all shops. With this decision of the government, now no beneficiary will get less ration.

Now there will be no problem in weighing the ration!

In fact, under the National Food Security Law, the central government has decided to link electronic point of sale (EPOS) devices with electronic scales at ration shops to ensure that the right amount of food grains is available to the beneficiaries. The law has amended the rules. After this it has become mandatory for all the Kotdars to keep electronic scales. The government is also getting inspection done for this, so that no quota can steal now.

New rule implemented across the country

After this order of the government, now all the fair price shops in the country have been connected with online electronic point of sale ie POS devices. That is, now there is no scope left for disturbances in the ration weighing. Let us tell you that the government has provided hybrid model point of sale machines to the ration dealers, the beneficiaries of the Public Distribution System (PDS) should not get less ration under any circumstances. What is rule?

According to the information given by the government, this amendment is an attempt to further the process of reforming food grains under Section 12 of the Act by improving the transparency of the operation of Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) under NFSA . In fact, there used to be complaints continuously that in many places the Kotdars weigh less rations. Under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the government is providing five kg of wheat and rice (foodgrains) per person per month to about 80 crore people of the country at a subsidized rate of Rs 2-3 per kg respectively.

These changes

The government informed that the sub-rules of the Food Security (Assistance to State Governments Rules) Rules, 2015 to incentivize the States to operate EPOS equipment properly and to promote savings from the additional profit of Rs.17.00 per quintal (2) Rule 7 has been amended. The savings, if any, to any State/UT from the additional margin provided for the cost of purchase, operation and maintenance of point of sale devices, shall be shared with the purchase, operation and maintenance of electronic weighing scales for both. is being used for integration. That is, the government has now become strict to deliver complete ration to the beneficiaries.
