Giving relief to the passengers, the Lucknow Division of North Eastern Railway has started preparations for traveling on unreserved (General) tickets in many express trains ahead of Diwali and Chhath. For this a proposal has been sent to the Gorakhpur headquarters. After the approval of the proposal, the system of giving unreserved tickets in selected trains will be started. Unreserved ticket for the first time after lockdown
Actually, there is immense faith in Chhath Puja in Purvanchal. Not only the country but people living abroad also go to their homes on this festival. In such a situation, it is bound to be crowded in trains. But even in short distance trains with long distance, confirmed tickets are not available, due to which people are facing problems.

But by getting permission to travel on unreserved tickets, more passengers will be able to travel than the number of seats in a general coach. That is, now everyone can get the facility to go home. Actually, after the lockdown, from June 1, 2020, all trains are running as special. These tickets are also necessary in the general coaches of Special Express (Second Seating). At present, giving general tickets is allowed in passenger trains only.
The decision taken in view of the festival
In view of the rush in the train on Chhath and Diwali, the Railways has taken this decision. With the implementation of this system, not only the passengers will get relief on the coming festivals, but the income of the railways will also increase. On getting approval to give such tickets, North Eastern Railway will initially install 2 to 4 unreserved coaches in high demand trains. Before the Corona period, this arrangement was applicable in express and mail trains.
