The Kerala government has approved another installment of dearness allowance (DA) for state employees and teachers and dearness relief (DR) for pensioners. Kerala Finance Minister KN Balagopal gave this information on Saturday.
According to news agency PTI, Balagopal has said that the revised amount will be applicable from the salary and pension due on September 1. Employees under the University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Medical Services will also get the benefit.
The increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief is estimated to increase the annual expenditure of the state of Kerala by about Rs 2000 crore. Balagopal says that this is the second installment of DA and DR approved this year. This step reflects the government’s commitment towards employees and pensioners.
Last year also 2 installments of DA and DR were released
The Kerala government had also released two installments of DA and DR last year. Balagopal said that the state government has fulfilled the promise of pay revision despite the financial crisis during the years of the Kovid-19 pandemic and the employees and pensioners have been paid DA and other benefits in cash since the beginning of the financial year 2021-22.
