The matter of lifting of food grains by making ration cards by affluent people across the state including the capital is coming to the fore. Now the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department has started taking strict action regarding this.
On behalf of the department, the common people have been told that those ineligible beneficiary families who want to surrender their ration card voluntarily, they must apply online (in Form 12G) with Aadhaar number by the head of their family by November 30 or Contact the District’s Special Division Officer / District Supply Officer / Block Supply Officer or Marketing Officer and submit it. Otherwise, recovery and legal action will be taken against the said beneficiary/family for taking advantage of the ration card after the said date.
Were poor, now those who are affluent also surrender their cards
The department is constantly getting information that under the National Food Security Act 2013, many such beneficiaries have been included who are not eligible. Due to which the genuinely eligible beneficiaries are deprived of the benefits of this Act. Therefore, those families who have been issued AAY or PHH scheme category ration card due to any reason or such beneficiaries who do not qualify for the card due to advancement in economic condition, it is mandatory to surrender their ration card.
They cannot make ration card…………
- Those families, whose members are employed in the Government of India / State Government / Union Territory or their Council / Enterprise / Process / Undertaking / University, Municipal Corporation / Municipal Council / Municipality / Trust etc., they cannot make the card.
- Families whose members pay Income Tax / Service Tax / Professional Tax.
- Who has more than five acres of irrigated or more than ten acres of unirrigated land
- Having a four wheeler motor vehicle or more than one wheeler
- A family member of which is the owner or operator of an enterprise registered by the Government
- Those families who are not covered by government housing schemes, having pucca walls in rooms (house of three or more rooms with roof).
- Those who have machine driven four wheeled agricultural equipment (tractor etc.) costing 5 lakhs or more.
This action will be taken with commission
- Criminal action will be initiated by registering an FIR under relevant sections of IPC.
- The recovery of the lifted ration (from the date of lifting of food grains) will be done by calculating the interest rate of 12 percent per annum on the market rate.
- If any beneficiary Government of India / State Government / Union Territory etc. are employed, departmental action will also be taken against them in addition to the above action.
