The operation of trains stalled for almost three months due to COVID-19 is not expected to be normal at the moment, as the Indian Railways has canceled all the regular timetable trains booked on or before April 14. Rail tickets have been canceled. Passengers will be given full refund. It is clear from the Railway’s decision that it may take a long time for normal passenger trains to start.
Why there can be delay- According to a Times of India report, the Railway Ministry issued a circular to all zones on Monday informing them of the decision to cancel all tickets booked on or before April 14 and generate a full refund of tickets. That is why it is believed that it will take time to start normal train services.
This order issued on Monday- According to IRCTC, automatic full refund will be started by Indian Railways after cancellation of train in the system. Meanwhile, Indian Railways will continue to run its 230 IRCTC special trains on designated routes for immediate travel. In view of the spread of Corona virus or Kovid-19, Indian Railways suspended advance reservation for regular train services from 15 April. With the nationwide lockdown commencing, all the regular train services of the national transporter have been canceled from 25 March
however, on May 12, the Railways started IRCTC Special Train Service to bring the people trapped in the lockdown to their homes. Initially, IRCTC’s special trains included 30 Rajdhani-style air-conditioned trains. Then, 200 other IRCTC special trains were launched along with non-AC sleeper train services from 1 June onwards.
