The Steel Authority of India Limited (Steel Authority of India) has agreed to revise the salary and allowances of SAIL personnel. An agreement was reached between the management and the workers’ unions in the core group meeting of the National Joint Committee for Steel late on Thursday night.

According to HMS leader Rajendra Singh, the salary revision of SAIL workers was pending since January 1, 2017. 30 percent allowance was being demanded by the unions, but after a long debate and deliberation between the two sides, the management agreed to pay 26.05 percent allowance. The management has also agreed to pay arrears to all the workers as per the new agreement from January 2020.

Raising this issue, MP of Durg, Chhattisgarh, Vijay Baghel said that the profit of SAIL for the last three years is more than 5 thousand crores, but despite this, the decision is not being taken on the salary revision of the employees.
