Hajj pilgrims could not go on Haj pilgrimage from India in 2020 due to CoronaVirus Pandemic. Now the Government of India has started preparations for the Haj pilgrimage to be held in 2021. Awaiting the release of guidelines from Saudi Arabia for the Haj Yatra 2021, the agencies of India and Saudi Arabia are in touch. The government has said that following the decision regarding Haj 2021 by the Saudi Arabian government, applying for going to Haj will be announced along with other procedures.

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Monday that Haj-2021 would depend on national-international guidelines related to the corona virus epidemic and a final decision would be taken, prioritizing the safety of the people. He also said that Haj Committee of India and other Indian agencies will soon start receiving applications and other preparations for Haj next year.

According to the Union Minister, after the decision in respect of Haj 2021 by the Government of Saudi Arabia, a formal announcement will be made about the application and other process. Naqvi said that due to the Corona epidemic, Haj arrangements could undergo a massive change keeping in mind the guidelines. These include housing, traffic, health and other arrangements in India and Saudi Arabia.

He said that the safety of Haj pilgrims is the priority of the government due to the Corona epidemic. The Government of India and other related agencies will make necessary arrangements in this direction. The government and the Haj Committee have initiated necessary action in this regard. The Union Minister said that the result of 100 per cent digital Haj system of India is that 2100 crores of one lakh 23 thousand people who are not going to Haj 2020 due to Corona have been returned through DBT without any deduction. The Saudi Arabian government has also returned approximately Rs 100 crore of Haj pilgrims traffic for 2018-19.

Explain that due to Corona epidemic, the Saudi Arabian government approved a limited number of Haj this year. Due to this, Haj pilgrims could not go from India. The Haj Committee and other agencies will begin the application process for Haj 2021 and other preparations related to Haj from October and November. It is expected that the Saudi government will soon issue guidelines related to Haj 2021. Indian agencies are in touch with the Saudi government regarding this. On an average, about two lakh people from India go to Saudi Arabia for Haj every year.
