Aadhaar-PAN linking deadline- CBDT said in a statement that the deadline has been extended keeping in view the problems being faced by various stakeholders due to the COVID-19 pandemic.



New Delhi. Aadhaar-PAN linking deadline- The government on Friday extended the deadline for linking PAN with biometric ID Aadhaar by six months to March 2022. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement that keeping in view the problems being faced by various stakeholders due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, the deadline has been extended, which will ease compliance. The CBDT said, “The deadline for reporting Aadhaar number to the Income Tax Department for linking PAN with Aadhaar has been extended from September 30, 2021 to March 31, 2022.”

Also, the last date for completion of penalty proceedings under the Income Tax Act has also been extended from September 30, 2021 to March 31, 2022.
In addition, the deadline for issuing notices and passing orders by the Adjudicating Authority under the Benami Property Transactions Prevention Act, 1988 has also been extended up to March 2022.

After this date, the penalty will be imposed,

let us tell you that if you do not link the Aadhaar card with your PAN card by 31 March 2022, then you will not be able to use the PAN card after this. Your PAN card will be deactivated after 31st March 2022. Also you will not get government benefits. Not only this, if you use PAN card after cancellation, then it will be considered as a violation of section 272B under the Income Tax Act. In such a situation, the PAN holder will have to pay a fine of Rs 1,000.


Know how to link PAN with Aadhaar?

  • To link your PAN card with Aadhaar, you must first visit the website www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
  • In this website you will see the option of ‘Link Aadhaar’.
  • On clicking this link, a new page will open on your screen.
  • Here you will have to fill your Aadhaar number, PAN card number and some of your personal information.
  • After this, your PAN card will be linked with your Aadhaar as soon as you click on the ‘Submit’ button.
