Bank Service Charges Increase: Big Alert! These banks increase minimum balance charges, check here new charges

Punjab National Bank has also increased the locker charges. Now customers of the bank can visit their lockers 12 times in a year for free. After this, they will be charged Rs 100 per visit.


Bank Service Charges: There is shocking news for bank customers that banks have announced to increase the charges of some of their services. In this episode, Punjab National Bank and HDFC Bank have increased some of their service charges. Banks have increased minimum balance charges, locker charges and account closure charges.

Punjab National Bank (PNB) has announced a hike in charges for essential services for its customers. Now the customers of metros will have to keep a balance of at least 10 thousand rupees in their account. Otherwise, they will have to pay a separate fee. The new rules will come into effect from January 15. The minimum balance limit has been increased to Rs 1000 in rural branch, Rs 2000 in towns, Rs 5000 in urban branch and Rs 10,000 in metro cities. Earlier this limit was Rs 5000 in the branch of metro cities.

The bank said that if the minimum balance is not maintained, now people of rural and semi-urban areas will have to pay a charge of Rs 400 per quarter. Whereas earlier it was Rs 200 per quarter. Similarly, customers of urban and metro areas will have to pay a quarterly charge of Rs 600 for not maintaining sufficient balance in their account. Earlier this charge was Rs 300 per quarter.


Locker charges also increased

Punjab National Bank has also increased the locker charges. Now customers of the bank can visit their lockers 12 times in a year for free. After this, they will be charged Rs 100 per visit. Earlier customers used to get 15 free visits in a year. The bank has also increased the charge of lockers from Rs 250 to Rs 500.

Excess charge on current account

In PNB, if you want to close the current account within 12 months of opening it, then you will have to pay Rs 800 for that. Earlier this charge was Rs 600.

HDFC Bank also increased the charges

On the lines of Punjab National Bank, private sector HDFC Bank has just increased the charges for many of its services. The bank has increased the charge of the message related to the transaction to 20 paise per message. GST will also have to be paid separately on 20 paise. Earlier this fee was Rs 3 every quarter.
