North East Small Finance Bank: The name of North East Small Finance Bank (NESFB) has now been changed to Slice Small Finance Bank (Slice SFB). This change has been made after the merger with the fintech startup Slice. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has verified it in the notification issued on 21 May 2025. However, after this there is a lot of confusion among the customers of North East Small Finance Bank whether their checkbooks, debit cards etc. will work as before? Or will they have to apply for them again.

A spokesperson for Slice Bank said that he is working towards becoming India’s most preferred bank. The aim of the bank is to create such banking products that value people’s time and money.

Customer service will remain

Customers need not panic due to the name change. All old banking documents like passbook, check book, debit card and IFSC code will continue to work as before. If you are an old customer of NESFB, then there is no need to panic. All your banking services will continue as before and the bank will inform you about any changes from time to time.

What services will be available as before?

Existing customers of Slice SFB will be able to avail all services like savings account, current account, fixed deposit, personal and business loan, gold loan, credit card and digital banking as before. The bank has promised that there will be no interruption in any service to the customers.

Bank’s name may change, but services will remain same

According to RBI, if the name of a bank changes, its old documents like passbook, cheque book, debit card etc. remain valid until the bank itself informs about changing them. IFSC code will also remain the same, due to which online banking services like NEFT, RTGS and IMPS will continue to run smoothly.

When was NESFB started?

NESFB was started in 2011 to expand its business in the north-eastern states. Now it is moving towards providing a technology-rich, modern banking experience in collaboration with Slice.
