Bank Mitras i.e. Banking Correspondents are those people who have been given the responsibility of providing banking facilities under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. Documents to become a bank friend

  • Copy of PAN card, Aadhar card , Passport or Voter ID card for identity proof
  • 10th class mark sheet and character certificate for eligibility
  • Passport size photograph and copy of bank passbook or canceled check
  • Copy of Electricity Bill, Telephone Bill, Ration Card, Aadhar Card or Passport for Business Address

Necessities

Only such person can apply to become a bank friend, who has a computer or laptop. There is internet facility, printer, scanner. Apart from all this, there should be an office in at least 100 square feet. The bank will also give you a loan of up to 1.25 lakh to buy a computer, car or other vehicle etc.


Who can become a bank friend?

  • Any adult can become a bank friend if he has passed 10th standard as well as having basic knowledge of computer.
  • Apart from this, retired bank employees, teachers, banks and soldiers can also adopt it as employment.
  • Also Chemist Shop, Grocery Shop, Petrol Pump, Self Help Group, PCO, Common Service Center etc. can also work as Bank Mitras.

Where to apply

  • Apply online for this. To apply, go to www.egram.org/apply and fill out the online form.
  •  Choose the bank working in your area from the banks given in the form and read the given information.
  • On completion of online application your application will be sent for preliminary verification.
  • At the end of the verification, you will be given the confirmation of the application by email.
  • Now your application will be sent to the selected bank and BC (Business Correspondent).
  • BC will start your registration process and during this you will have to go to your chosen branch for documents introduction.

Benefits of Bank Mitra

After becoming a bank friend, you can earn in many ways. Bank Mitra is given commission for opening an account of any person, depositing money, withdrawing money, paying his credit card and bill. Under PMJDY, a loan of Rs 1.25 lakh is also given to all Bank Mitras, out of which Rs 50,000 is for goods, Rs 25,000 for work and Rs 50,000 for vehicle. Apart from this, 2000 to 5000 rupees are given as commission every month to Bank Mitra. Bank Mitra opening a bank account under Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana will not have to pay service tax.
