Bank Locker Rules: Today is the last day for bank locker renewal…otherwise the goods may be seized.

Reserve Bank of India: In the information given by RBI, it was said that 10-20% of the customers have not yet signed the new agreements. Earlier, RBI had fixed 31 December 2022 as the last date for renewing the agreement.


Bank Locker Rules: If you have a locker in any bank then today is the last chance to get it renewed. Yes, the last date for renewing the locker rental agreement by RBI was fixed as December 31, 2023. Till now the Reserve Bank has not made any change in the last date, so today is the last chance for renewal. Actually, there will be a bank holiday on 31st December as it is Sunday. 30th December is the last and fifth Saturday of the month and banks are open. In such a situation, you will not be able to renew the rental agreement related to the locker after today.

10-20% customers did not sign new agreements

It was told by the banks that 10-20% customers have not yet signed the new agreement. Earlier, RBI had fixed December 31, 2022 as the last date for renewing bank locker agreements. But later it was extended for one year. If you do not renew your bank locker agreement, the bank can seize your locker.

How will the locker agreement be renewed?

For renewal of bank locker agreement, contact your home branch. After reaching the branch, meet the bank staff and apply for ‘Bank Locker Agreement Renewal’. Bank staff will give you stamp paper and e-stamping etc. After renewing the bank locker agreement, a copy of it will be provided to you by the bank. For agreement renewal, you must have identity proof, bank account passbook and locker key.

The benefits of renewing the agreement are-

Ability to continue using the locker: After the expiry of the bank locker agreement, if you want to continue using the locker, then you will have to renew the agreement. If you do not renew the agreement, the bank can seize your locker.

Agreement to be made under new rules: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued new rules for bank lockers. Under these rules, some important changes have been made in the bank locker agreement. If you do not renew your agreement, you will not be able to enter into the agreement under the new rules.

Compensation on loss of luggage: Under the bank locker agreement, the bank is responsible to some extent for the loss of luggage of its customers. If you do not renew the agreement, you will not get compensation in case of loss of goods.
