Bank Holidays in October 2022: The festival of Diwali is about to come. Diwali is on this Monday 24 October, starting from Dhanteras till Bhai Dooj, the festival of Diwali is celebrated. In such a situation, if you have any banking related work then you may have to wait a long time. Actually, from these Diwali to Bhai Dooj, there are bank holidays in different cities.

Rules for different cities
According to the holiday calendar of Reserve Bank of India i.e. RBI, banks will be closed for 8 days in the next 10 days. These also include weekly holidays. According to the RBI Holiday Calendar, banks are going to remain closed in different cities on the occasion of Diwali, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj. However, bank holidays vary between states and states and cities. On major festivals of many states, there will be a holiday in banks only in those states.

Banks will remain closed for 6 consecutive days

  • October 24 – Banks will remain closed in other cities of the country except Hyderabad, Imphal and Gangtok on account of Kali Puja/ Narak Chaturdashi/ Diwali/ Lakshmi Puja.
  • October 25 – Banks will remain closed in Gangtok, Hyderabad, Imphal and Jaipur on account of Lakshmi Puja/Diwali/Govardhan Puja.
  • 26 October – Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Belapur, Dehradun, Gangtok, Jammu, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Shillong and Shimla due to festivals like Bhai Dooj.
  • October 27 – Banks will remain closed in Lucknow, Kanpur, Imphal and Gangtok on account of festivals like Bhai Dooj/Chitragupta.
  • 28 October – Banks in Ahmedabad, Patna and Ranchi will remain closed on account of Dala Chhath/Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti.
