The festival season is in full swing, and with it, a flurry of holidays is also underway across the country. If you’re planning to handle any banking work in the coming week, be sure to read this news first.
According to the RBI’s bank holiday calendar, banks will be closed for five days in many parts of the country between October 27 and November 2. These holidays include festivals like Chhath Puja and Igas Bagwal.
Banks closed in Bihar and Jharkhand due to Chhath Puja
The week will begin with a holiday. Banks will be closed on Monday, October 27th, in the Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi regions for Chhath Puja. Banking operations will also be suspended in the Patna and Ranchi regions on Tuesday, October 28th. Thus, bank employees in Bihar and Jharkhand will receive four consecutive days off, including the weekly holiday.
There will also be holidays in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Dehradun
Banks will operate as usual on Wednesday and Thursday, but on Friday, October 31st, banks in the Ahmedabad region will be closed to celebrate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. Banks will then be closed on Saturday, November 1st, to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava in Bengaluru and Igas Bagwal in Dehradun. This festival is celebrated 11 days after Diwali in Uttarakhand.

Which features will not be affected
If you’re worried about essential banking services like money transfers or bill payments, be assured that online banking (UPI, IMPS, NEFT, RTGS) and ATM services will continue to operate as usual during the holidays. This means you can complete all your tasks digitally.
There are a total of 21 bank holidays in October.
