Bank Holidays Alert: Banks will remain closed for 21 days in October 2025, know the complete list of holidays

Banks across the country will be closed for a total of 21 days in October 2025 due to festivals and national holidays. This month marks major auspicious occasions such as Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra, Diwali, Chhath Puja, and Bhai Dooj in various states and regions, which will impact banking services. Therefore, customers should plan their bank’s working days in advance.

This year, October begins on October 1st, the Maha Navami day of Navratri, celebrated in many states. Banks across the country will be closed on October 2nd due to Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. Additionally, Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti on October 7th and Karva Chauth on October 17th are public holidays in many states.

In October, from October 20th to 23rd, several Diwali-related days, such as Naraka Chaturdashi, Lakshmi Puja, and Bhai Dooj, will be bank holidays in various states. Notably, banks will be closed on October 27th and 28th in several northern Indian states, including Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, due to Chhath Puja. States like West Bengal, Gujarat, and Delhi will have additional holidays for Diwali and Kali Puja.

State-wise, special holidays for Navratri and Dussehra will be observed in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Karnataka, Kerala, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, etc. Banks will remain closed until Karwa Chauth in states like Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.
