Bank Holiday in April 2023: Due to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, banks will be closed all over India today. According to the RBI website, apart from Ambedkar Jayanti, banks will remain closed today in some states on account of festivals like Baisakhi, Baisakhi, Tamil New Year’s Day, Cheoroba, Biju Festival and Bohag Bihu.

Today will also be a holiday in Ranchi, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram. Talking about the Northeast, banks will open only in Shillong today.

According to RBI guidelines, banks remain closed on Sundays as well as on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Let us tell you that under the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881, the central government divided the holidays into three categories.

April 23: Fourth Saturday
April 24: Sunday

The stock markets are closed today on account of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti . This is the third holiday in the last two weeks for Indian equity indices. The benchmark indices were closed on Mahavir Jayanti on April 4 and Good Friday on April 7.
