Banks will also be closed in some cities on this occasion. So, if you have any important banking work, get it done today. Let’s find out which cities will have bank closures.

Bank Holidays in These Cities
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, banks will be closed in Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi on Monday, October 27, 2025, the day of the evening Arghya (offering) of Chhath Puja. Patna and Ranchi have also declared a bank holiday on October 28. This means that people in Bihar and Jharkhand will have to postpone any offline banking work during these two days.

What to do if you have urgent banking work?
Bank holidays during festivals often cause people to worry, but there’s no need to panic. Now, most banking tasks can be completed online. If you need to deposit a check, deposit or withdraw cash, or have any other urgent work at a branch, get it done before the holiday.

Online Banking Will Remain Open
Despite bank holidays, services like net banking, mobile banking, and UPI will remain operational. You can make payments and transfers through IMPS, NEFT, and RTGS from the comfort of your home. Cash withdrawals, balance checks, or mini-statements will also be possible. This means that digital banking will continue to be helpful even when banks are closed.

The festival of sun worship will be celebrated for four days.
This year, Chhath Puja begins on October 25th. This four-day festival symbolizes the worship of the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya. Devotees observe a fast with strict discipline, devotion, and offer prayers to the Sun God for the well-being and prosperity of their families. This festival is celebrated with great pomp in Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and the Terai region of Nepal.
