What did SBI say?
SBI has informed its customers, “We advise our customers to link their PAN with Aadhaar to avoid any inconvenience and enjoy uninterrupted banking service.” At the same time, Bank of India has also asked its customers to link PAN-Aadhaar before March 31.
PAN is mandatory for many financial transactions including opening bank accounts, depositing cash in bank accounts, opening demat accounts, dealing in immovable properties and dealing in bonds. Aadhaar is biometric based and cannot be obtained on the basis of any other identity document.
