Yes, nowadays banks are sending messages to maintain Rs 436 in their bank accounts till May 31. Let us tell you that this message is being sent to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY). The deadline for the scheme has been set by the government as May 31. If you do not have a balance of Rs 436 in your bank account, then your insurance may be automatically canceled and you may be out of this scheme. This is the reason why the bank is alerting the customers by sending messages.
What are the benefits of the scheme?
The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana was started in 2015. In this scheme, by paying a premium of just Rs 436 per year, you get a life insurance cover of up to Rs 2 lakh. This insurance is applicable in case of death due to any reason. This premium is for one year, which has to be renewed every year. The premium amount is automatically deducted from the customer’s bank account.
Who can take advantage of the scheme?
People between the age of 18 to 50 years can join this scheme. If a person joins the scheme before 50 years, then he can remain in it till the age of 55. But the condition is that for this he will have to keep paying the premium every year. To join the scheme, registration can be done through bank account, BC center, bank website or post office.
Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
Apart from this, the government also runs another scheme called Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). People between 18 and 70 years of age can join it. By paying a premium of just Rs 20 per year, you get an insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh on accidental death or physical disability.
