ATM Withdrawal Charges: Usually many people have a debit card. This is called ATM card. Even though its use has reduced due to increasing digital, it is still very much needed. Customers have to pay money for withdrawing money from ATM. It is different in metro cities and other cities.
ATM Withdrawal Charges: There are always changes in the rules regarding ATMs of banks. Banks have now started charging more fees for withdrawing money from ATMs. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had approved the increase in charges for ATM transactions in the month of April itself. New rules have come into effect from May 1. Banks give a limit to customers to withdraw money from ATM. This limit is different in metro cities and non-metro cities. After the free limit, you may have to pay up to Rs 2-3 for every additional transaction. This charge was earlier Rs 21 per transaction.
At present, 5 free transactions are available on your bank’s ATM every month. It includes 3 free transactions at ATMs of other banks in metro cities and 5 free transactions in non-metro cities. This rule applies to savings account holders of all banks in the country. RBI has not made any change in this free limit.
SBI ATM Charges
State Bank of India (SBI) has updated its ATM charge policy from 1 February 2025. At present, all customers get 5 free transactions at SBI ATMs and 10 free transactions at ATMs of other banks. If the customer’s average monthly balance (AMB) is between Rs 25,000 and Rs 1 lakh, then they get 5 free transactions at ATMs of other banks. Those whose AMB is more than Rs 1 lakh get unlimited free transactions at ATMs of SBI and other banks. After the free limit, Rs 15 + GST is charged at SBI ATMs and Rs 21 + GST per transaction is charged at ATMs of other banks.
HDFC Bank ATM charges
The ATM transaction fee has been increased to Rs 23 + tax after crossing the free limit. The fee is applicable only on cash withdrawal. There is no charge on non-financial transactions like balance inquiry, mini statement and PIN change.
Punjab National Bank
After free transactions at PNB ATMs, customers are charged Rs 10 plus tax. At the same time, Rs 23 + tax is charged in metro cities and Rs 11 + tax in non-metro cities at ATMs of other banks. These changes have come into effect from 9 May 2025.
ICICI Bank
ICICI Bank has not yet announced the ATM charge after the free limit. Currently, customers can do a total of 5 free transactions (both financial and non-financial) every month. After this, Rs 21 is charged on every financial transaction and Rs 8.50 + GST is charged on every non-financial transaction.
Yes Bank ATM Charges
Five transactions per month are free at Yes Bank ATMs. After this, a charge of Rs 23 is levied on every transaction. Rs 10 is charged at Yes Bank ATMs for non-financial transactions such as balance checks.
