Arnab Goswami: In an old case of suicide, Mumbai Police arrested and arrested Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV on Wednesday morning. The Mumbai police arrived at Goswami’s house and arrested him. Arnab Goswami has been arrested in connection with the investigation into the suicide of interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik in 2018. Earlier, Arnab accused the police of assaulting him. Republic TV also showed live footage of Arnab’s house showing a clash between the police and Arnab. Arnab Goswami says that the Mumbai Police assaulted his mother-in-law, Susar, son and wife. According to the video played on Republic TV, Mumbai Police also beat Arnab Goswami.




At the same time, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar has described Goswami’s custody as an attack on freedom of the press.

On Arnab’s arrest, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has said that the Maharashtra government does not act with a vengeance. There is a rule of law in Maharashtra. The police must have found some evidence. Only then is arrested.

What is the whole matter?

Arnab Goswami was arrested by Raigad police in the case for abetting the architect Anvay Naik to suicide. Architect Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik committed suicide in May 2018. He also left a suicidal note. In which Anvay alleged that he was forced to commit suicide as Arnab did not pay him the outstanding amount of Rs 5.40 crore. Due to this his economic condition deteriorated and he was forced to take this step. A complaint was lodged by the victim’s wife Akshata Naik. She was present at the house at the time of the incident.
