Amit Shah will start Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 today, this work will have to be done to get free LPG connection

In the Union Budget for the year 2021-22, the Central Government has made a provision to increase one crore more LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (Ujjwala 2.0 Scheme).



Union Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the Ujjwala 2.0 scheme during his one-day visit to Madhya Pradesh today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 10 this year announced the second phase of ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana’ from Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh. Now the Home Minister will launch Ujjwala Yojana-2 in Jabalpur on 18th September. The Ujjwala scheme was started in the year 2016. Under this, a target was set to provide free LPG connections to five crore women from families living below the poverty line.

In the year 2018, the scope of this scheme was expanded and it also included seven categories of women including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Antyodaya Anna Yojana and Most Backward Classes. Also, the target of LPG connections was increased to eight crores. According to the government, the target was achieved ahead of schedule in August 2019.

One crore cooking gas will be distributed for free

In the Union Budget for the year 2021-22, the government has made a provision to increase one crore more LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Under these one crore LPG connections to be distributed under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana-2, a filled cylinder and stove will be given free of cost. To take advantage of Ujjwala Yojana-2, the beneficiaries will have to do very few formalities and migrant labor families will not need to apply ration card or address proof. Self-declaration letter will be enough for this.




How to apply online

  1. To apply, you have to first go to the official portal of Ujjwala Yojana at pmuy.gov.in.
  2. After this click on ‘Apply For New Ujjwala 2.0 Connection’.
  3. You will see three options (Indane, Bharat Petroleum and HP) at the bottom of the page ie the option of gas companies.
  4. Choose any one option as per your convenience.
  5. After that fill all the requested information.
  6. After document verification, LPG gas connection will be issued in your name.




These papers will be needed

  1. BPL Ration Card.
  2. BPL certificate authorized by Panchayat President.
  3. To get the subsidy amount, it is necessary to have a savings account in the bank.
  4. A photo ID card (Aadhaar card or Voter ID card).
  5. A recent passport photo.
  6. The applying family should not already have any LPG connection at home.
