In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad said that as per the information given by Public Sector Banks (PSBs), the total number of dormant accounts under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana as on July 28, 2021 is about 5.82 crore. . He said that the percentage of the number of dormant accounts has come down from 18.08 percent in March 2020 to 14.02 percent in July 2021. When does a bank account become inoperative?
According to the rules of Reserve Bank of India, when there is no transaction in an account for two consecutive years or more, then that account becomes in-operative. That is, these 5.82 crore Jan Dhan accounts are such, in which there has been no transaction for at least 2 years. This is also a matter of concern because money is sent to these accounts under all the welfare schemes of the government and rural employment guarantee. Replace the old savings account in Jan Dhan accounts
to be a bank by filling out a form and apply for RuPay card against your account. After filling the form submit it to the bank. After this your account will be converted into Jan Dhan account. Give Aadhar Card Information Activate Inactive Account
You can activate Jan Dhan account by giving complete details of your Aadhar card. If there is no transaction in Jan Dhan accounts, it is closed. You can get your account activated through transactions.
How to open account?
Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, the account is opened more in public sector banks. But, if you want, you can also open your Jan Dhan account in a private bank. If you have any other savings account then you can also convert it to Jan Dhan account. Any citizen residing in India, whose age is 10 years or more, can open a Jan Dhan account.
Benefit of Rs 1.30 lakh In
the account opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, a total benefit of Rs 1.30 lakh is given to the account holder. Accident insurance is also given in this. The account holder is given accident insurance of Rs 1,00,000 along with general insurance of Rs 30,000. In such a situation, if the account holder has an accident, then Rs 30,000 is given. If the account holder dies in this accident, then one lakh rupees are given, that is, a total benefit of Rs 1.30 lakh is available.
