The Ministry of Civil Aviation has now started working on installing Computed Tomography X-Ray Baggage Scanners at major airports of the country.

Due to this, passengers will not need to take out mobiles, laptops, chargers and other electronic devices from their handbags during the security check. After the installation of this machine, the passengers will not need to keep their luggage in the tray during the security check.

New Delhi.

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation General VK Singh told the Rajya Sabha on Monday that the ministry is considering installing CTX baggage scanners at all airports in the country. Due to this, passengers will not need to keep their electronic goods separately in the coming days.

It may be noted that the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) had last year recommended installation of scanners based on computer tomography technology at airports, requiring passengers to remove electronic devices from their hand baggage before passing through the scanner. Will not be needed.

The scanners currently used at airports provide a two-dimensional view of objects inside luggage. Aviation security watchdog BCAS regulator proposed to install scanners based on computer tomography technology at airports, which would provide three-dimensional visualization of objects in hand luggage.

Such work will work comted tomography X-ray baggage scanner

The ministry has said that by installing such scanners, it is also expected to help in accelerating the process of security checks at airports. After the Korona period, there were complaints of congestion at airports and waiting for a long time. The authorities have taken several steps to deal with it and the congestion has reduced.

Will be posted at sensitive airports

The BCAS comes under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The ministry has said that strengthening security at airports is a continuous process and periodically review the situation in consultation with agencies and stakeholders, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and BCAS Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, some technologies proposed at sensitive airports and proposed for deployment include ‘Computer Tomography Explosive Detection System’ (CT-EDS) ‘machine and’ dual generator X-BIS ‘machine. It is also planned to deploy the ‘radiological screening equipment (RDE) in a phased manner at airports.

CT scan computerized tomography scan is a kind of three dimensional exposure.

Tomography means cutting anything in small sections and studying it. In the case of Kovid, the doctors who used to scan the CT scan were done through HRCT Chest ie high resolution computerized tomography scan. India is one of the fastest growing civil aviation markets globally and in view of this, the ministry has now started considering using this technology.
