Delhi Air Pollution 2021 UPDATE Gopal Rai held a meeting with the officials of Metro and Delhi Transport Corporation to discuss ways to increase the vehicle capacity of Delhi’s public transport system. DMRC and DTC were asked to prepare a plan in this regard within two days.

Environment Minister Gopal Rai has asked the central government where how much stubble is being burnt and what is the share of this stubble smoke in Delhi’s pollution. Rai said that the share of stubble burning in Delhi’s PM 2.5 pollution has increased to 48 percent in the last 10 days. Gopal Rai also said that a joint action plan is the only solution to the problem of air pollution and the Kejriwal government will emphasize on this point in the meeting of the Center and NCR states on Tuesday. Gopal Rai held a meeting with the officials of Metro and Delhi Transport Corporation on Monday to discuss ways to increase the vehicle capacity of Delhi’s public transport system. Rai asked DMRC and DTC to prepare a plan in this regard within two days.

He said that if we consider the share of stubble burning in Delhi’s pollution in October, it may not even be 4 per cent, as the harvesting of paddy started late due to monsoon. Rai said Delhi’s air in October this year was the cleanest in five years, but the pollution levels have risen alarmingly after Diwali. According to SAFAR, the share of stubble burning in Delhi’s PM 2.5 pollution has increased to 48 percent in the last 10 days. This is central government data which is available in public domain.

At the same time, after the remarks of the Supreme Court, rhetoric has started in the political parties in Punjab. Shiromani Akali Dal has asked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to apologize to Punjabis in this matter. Akali Dal spokesperson Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that such attacks on innocent farmers of Punjab under Kejriwal’s leadership portrayed our farmers as villains, while the truth is completely different. Even after this, Delhi has been doing politics.
