The group’s low-cost subsidiary Air India Express will continue its operations in Imphal, indicating a change in the service model, but will ensure continuous air connectivity.” Officials said Air India has a rich history in the region, connecting Imphal to major cities across the country.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft that crashed soon after takeoff was operating flight number ‘AI 171’ from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick. Sources said on Saturday that it is a common practice that airlines stop using particular flight numbers after fatal flight accidents.
